Energy efficient housing

Instruction cards for house retrofitting

In Finland, the Oulu municipality has compiled instruction cards for apartments and house owners to guide them how to retrofit their properties so they are more energy efficient and sustainable. These cards are available in Finnish and partially in English and cover topics like how to maintain and repair the roof (FI), the ventilation (ENG), the façade (FI), or acquire geothermal heating (FI). The cards were also tested in Umeå municipality to help spread knowledge on how to build more energy efficient buildings. The City of Oulu has also introduced a housing company permit, which shortened the building permission processes and allowed the companies to renovate bathrooms quicker.
