Reimagining Supply Chains Through Interconnectivity: Workshop Highlights

Industry professionals, researchers and technology experts recently came together for a hybrid workshop exploring how interconnected, demand-driven supply chains can help organisations improve visibility, responsiveness and resilience. Hosted by AIM Centre and supported by Sligo Local Enterprise Office as part of Local Enterprise Week, the event welcomed participants both in person and online from a range of sectors.

The session introduced the concept of demand-driven supply chains, highlighting how linking demand signals, operational data and partner systems can support better planning and execution across supply networks. Attendees were also introduced to the Arctic Edge Interreg NPA project, including its framework, key use cases and pilot activities currently underway. A preview of the upcoming Arctic Edge Mentoring Programme, launching in September 2026, was also shared.

A key focus of the workshop was cybersecurity in interconnected supply chains. Delivered in part by Dr Seamus Dowling from Atlantic Technological University (ATU), the session explored how MQTT technology enables lightweight, near real-time communication between supply chain systems, edge devices and partner networks, while also highlighting important considerations for maintaining secure and resilient connectivity.

Participants also experienced a live demonstration of the Arctic Edge pilot implementation, delivered by AIM Centre AI Solutions Engineer Kushagra Krishna Agrawal. The demonstration provided insight into how interconnected systems can enhance visibility across supply chain operations, along with key learnings from the pilot and planned next steps.

The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion where attendees shared perspectives on current supply chain challenges and opportunities. With participants from multiple industries contributing to the conversation, the session provided valuable insights into how organisations are approaching digital transformation across their supply networks.

Following the workshop, in-person attendees continued networking over lunch, creating further opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange. The strong engagement throughout the event highlighted the growing interest in practical solutions that support more connected and resilient supply chains.

Thank you to the Local Enterprise Office Sligo for supporting the event as part of Local Enterprise Week 2026.
