BATTSi Kickoff in Limerick, Ireland – May 15–16
Project partners met in Limerick, Ireland, for the first time in May 2025.
Partners from across Europe gathered in Limerick, Ireland, to kick off our project aimed at developing sustainable solutions for recovering battery-grade silicon from industrial side streams.
Over the two-day meeting, researchers from Finland, Ireland, Iceland, and Sweden explored the project's objectives and implementation plans. We shared expertise, aligned our schedules, and most importantly, got to know one another.
A highlight of the meeting was our visit to the battery research labs at the Bernal Institute, University of Limerick. Seeing the facilities and ongoing research inspired our discussions on battery testing, technology piloting, and sustainable material use.
Our work toward more environmentally friendly batteries and smarter use of materials continues.
