About BOCOD project (Boosting Continuity and Digitalisation of Rural Region Businesses)

Introducing BOCOD
BOCOD (Boosting Continuity and Digitalisation of Rural Region Businesses) is an Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) project aimed at supporting rural SMEs in Ireland (MTU), Finland (Business Joensuu, University of Oulu, Lapland University of Applied Sciences), and Iceland (Austrbru, Westfjords) to enhance their long-term viability through improved digital capabilities and better business continuity planning. The project is structured into three interconnected Work Packages (WPs). • WP1 (led by MTU) focuses on mapping existing support systems and identifying gaps in digital and succession resources. • WP2 (led by Lapland University of Applied Sciences) builds on these insights by developing and delivering targeted digital training tailored to the needs of rural SMEs. • WP3 (led by Business Joensuu) pilots innovative business continuity and succession support mechanisms to ensure that rural enterprises can plan for future transitions and maintain economic stability. Collectively, these work packages are designed to equip rural businesses with the tools, knowledge, and support networks needed to remain competitive and secure in a rapidly changing economic landscape.
