HYBES Consortium Gathers in Cork to Advance Decarbonisation

The meeting brought together partners across Northern Europe to evaluate progress and plan future actions. This cooperation within transnational partnerships is part of the consortium's ongoing effort to develop and implement innovative energy solutions for sustainable urban living.

Held under the theme "Mutual Learning for Joint Solutions & Outcomes," the three-day event featured technical sessions, strategic planning, and collaborative discussions among representatives from Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands. Throughout the meeting, the HYBES Consortium participated in knowledge sharing and focused on project management, technical development, educational innovation, and citizen engagement.

Technical discussions focused on retrofitting buildings in Cork and the Faroe Islands and pilot solar installations in Ireland and Norway. Updates included geothermal energy projects in Iceland and flexible renewable energy solutions in Nordic partner cities. 

Partners also discussed integrating decarbonisation themes into curricula and using cultural events to raise public awareness. Reports highlighted the effectiveness of Living Labs for testing energy solutions and developing an end-user guide for promoting behavioural shifts at the household level. 

Attendees engaged in networking and explored HYBES-inspired initiatives through guided site visits. The mutual learning emphasised the consortium's commitment to scalable, locally adapted solutions for accelerating Europe's transition to decarbonised urban living.
