Changing mindset towards young entrepreneurship

Growing number of young entrepreneurs

Before the RYE project, people in the region and Kajaani University of Applied Sciences were skeptical about encouraging young people towards entrepreneurship.

The change in attitudes and rising enthusiasm towards entrepreneurship among young people is the most important project achievement, as it gives more positive prospects to the communities living in the Northern periphery. The project did not give any financial support but succeeded in inspiring young people and make them aware that establishing a business is not an insurmountable barrier, but a concrete possibility.

After RYE, entrepreneurship is currently an integral part of all studies at Kajaanu Univeristy and  a permanent incubator has been established based on the RYE experience. This change in behaviour is very significant since the University is perceived as an engine for regional development in Kainnu region.

RYE assisted 11 young Finnish entrepreneurs to start or grow their businesses, including an escape room and a fitness and wellbeing studio.

I got to know about RYE in my studies in KAMK. We had a great opportunity to try entrepreneurship and it is wonderful to have support like this. Through the RYE project I’ve got answers to my questions regarding entrepreneurship and business, amazing experiences, and made new friends so it has been great to be part of this. Networking is the key to success!
