Encounters, insights and genuine needs – RemoTED workshop at Mehiläinen Länsi-Pohja Primary Health Care Services

The morning at the Keminmaa health center with Susanna Leskinen and Henri Perälä reflected what good development work is about: listening, co-creating and learning from everyday experience.

We were joined by 14 highly skilled professionals, including cardiac, diabetes, INR and pulmonary nurses. For them, digitalisation is not just a buzzword but a concrete part of delivering good care and meaningful patient encounters.

What did we learn?

Three themes stood out in the messages from the staff:
▫️Digital guidance requires confidence and interaction. How do we ensure that patients feel heard even through a screen?
▫️Patients’ digital skills vary widely. Especially when working with older adults, there is a need for clear models and unified tools.
▫️Solutions that make everyday work easier are genuinely appealing. Remote measurements, digital tools that support self‑care, and a single‑platform model emerged as wishes that could make work easier as soon as tomorrow.

Where do we go from here?

Based on the workshop, we will move forward with:
🔸targeted WP2 ongoing training modules tailored to the needs of our target group
🔸WP3 technology pilots that can truly save time, clarify workflows, and strengthen patient self‑care in regions with long distances

It is inspiring to see how much energy and willingness to develop new solutions exists in the everyday reality of primary healthcare.

A big thank you to all participants, your insights directly shape the solutions to come.
