Here a scoping review was carried out, on the current worldwide literature, to investigate how internationally based research teams, in conjunction with communities themselves, have gone about setting up programmes to deliver remote, and culturally appropriate care to rural dwellers. Learnings from this review will help to set up novel, community-based programmes, in Ireland, Sweden and Iceland.
