NPA SelfCare Project Meeting in Saxnäs

On the 7-8th of May the NPA SelfCare project team gathered in the picturesque village of Saxnäs in Västerbotten for a productive and inspiring project meeting. The event was hosted by our local partners from ‘The knowledge network for Sami health’ and provided an excellent opportunity for the team to align on project objectives, share insights, and strengthen our collaboration.

Day 1 – Fatmomakke and project activities

We started the day with a fantastic site visit to Fatmomakke, see below. The rest of the day was dedicated to project work activities. We went through the updated stakeholder analysis and presented the personas created to futher explain the target groups. We agreed on a process to involve the communities and how to perform and conduct the interviews with the persons in the target group. The scoping review and the gains realisation plan was also discussed and agreed on. A fantastic first day with both bonfire and powerpoints.

Site Visit to Fatmomakke

During our visit to Saxnäs, we also had the opportunity to visit Fatmomakke, a significant cultural site for the Sami people. This visit provided us with a deeper understanding of Sami culture and traditions. We learned about the unique challenges the Sami people face, particularly in accessing culturally sensitive healthcare services. The remote location and the need for healthcare providers to understand and respect Sami cultural practices were highlighted as key issues. This experience underscored the importance of our project's goal to improve access to appropriate health and well-being self-management services in rural areas.

Day 2 – Even great teams can improve

The day started with a retrospective activity of Period 1 in the project. A great way to have constructive and creative reflections on our work in the project and how a great team can keep improving. The day also contained activities regarding communication and dissemination from the project by planning Storry telling and scripts for a short film, podcasts, newsletters, roll-up etc. Action Point Log and project planning of period 2 was updated and agreed. The risk evaluation was updated and questions regarding project budget were solved.
The two-day meet-up was filled with inspiration, insights and gave the team an opportunity - once again - to align and to have a solid shared commitment and created the ground for a successful project going forward.

Warm thanks go to our partners and local hosts for making this meet-up such a memorable success. Let’s build on these experiences and bring this into our future collaboration in NPA SelfCare.
