Tech2Heal Partners Gather in Sweden for Productive Meeting in Storuman

The Tech2Heal partnership recently convened in Storuman, Sweden, for a highly productive and insightful partner meeting, further strengthening collaboration across the consortium.

Hosted by the Swedish Centre for Rural Health, the meeting provided an important opportunity for knowledge exchange, shared learning, and joint planning as the project continues to progress. Tech2Heal, funded by the Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme, focuses on improving occupational health and developing preventive strategies to support the well-being of workers, particularly in remote and rural regions.

A key focus of the discussions was advancing understanding of the factors contributing to absenteeism and early retirement linked to poor well-being. Across many regions, healthcare services that support employees in their recovery and return to work (such as occupational therapy and counselling) are increasingly under pressure. These services can be difficult to access, costly and insufficiently resourced, highlighting the need for more sustainable and accessible solutions.

Throughout the two-day meeting, partners engaged in a range of collaborative activities, including:

  • Sharing insights into ongoing work at the Swedish Centre for Rural Health
  • Participating in co-creation sessions to progress upcoming Proofs of Concept
  • Exploring local healthcare delivery through a visit to Storuman Cottage Hospital

The visit to the hospital offered valuable, real-world context, with partners gaining first-hand insight into healthcare provision in rural settings. Special thanks were extended to Catharina Ingvarsson, Operations Manager at Storuman Cottage Hospital, for hosting an informative and engaging tour.
