Call for Best Practices
OPEN CALL for Best Practices in New European Bauhaus in the Northern Periphery and Arctic Region
OPEN CALL
See below for information, documents, and links to the application for our first Call for Best Practices in New European Bauhaus in the Northern Periphery and Arctic Region
Seven partners from the Northern Periphery and Arctic Region* joined forces to contribute to a more sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive built environment in the region's remote and sparsely populated communities. These communities share climate, cultural, and social characteristics that differentiate them from other parts of Europe. The project aiming to do so is called Bauhaus Goes North (BGN) and received funding from the Interreg NPA Programme, co-funded by the European Union.
The BGN project aims to utilise the concept of New European Bauhaus (NEB), launched to make the European Green Deal innovative, attractive, and human-centred. New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an initiative combining three dimensions of a supportive built environment: sustainability (circularity, zero pollution, biodiversity), aesthetics (quality of experience, style beyond functionality), and inclusion (valuing diversity, securing accessibility and affordability). However, the BGN project's primary focus is on practices linked to circularity and resource efficiency, combined with providing a high-quality experience for built environment users and promoting inclusiveness.
To identify practices and solutions in the NPA Region that align with NEB values and circularity, and to accelerate their take-up throughout the region, the BGN project partners have launched the first Call for Best Practices in New European Bauhaus in the Northern Periphery and Arctic Region. Practices looked for are activities (e.g., building design, neighbourhood plan, technological solution) or a policy or operational instruments (e.g., concept, local roadmap, procedure, toolbox) facilitating circular construction in the three priorities (categories):
- Circular society
- Circular instruments
- Circular building
The application deadline is on Friday, 28/11/2025.
* The NPA area consists of Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, northern Finland, Norway and Sweden, and western Ireland. A map with exact areas marked can be found here.
