Outputs & Results
Discover how CHARGE is turning shared learning into practical resources for producers, communities, and food authorities
Main outputs
CHARGE will deliver practical tools, shared evidence, and institutional guidance to support clearer, more consistent governance of heritage and traditional foods across the Northern Periphery and Arctic.
Value & Impact
Our mission is to support the people and organisations who protect, produce, and regulate the Arctic’s heritage foods.
Clearer regulatory pathways
CHARGE will develop a digital Clarification Tool to help food authorities, producers and SMEs navigate food regulatory governance.
Preservation of Indigenous knowledge
CHARGE will recognise and embed Indigenous and locally transmitted knowledge within regulatory processes
Improved market access
CHARGE will serve as a point-of-contact for key regulatory information, helping producers bring their products to market.
Outputs & Results
The project will result in a common operating model to support the consistent interpretation of traditional and cultural heritage food governance and strengthen cooperation between authorities across the Northern Periphery and Arctic regions.
CHARGE will map selected heritage, traditional, and potentially novel food products across partner regions, together with their regulatory categories, procedures, and interpretations.
CHARGE will develop a practical digital support platform to help food authorities, producers and communities navigate regulatory pathways for heritage and traditional food products. Without replacing formal regulatory decisions, the platform will support more consistent assessments of heritage food products.
The CoP will bring together heritage food producers, regulatory bodies, and community groups to create a structured space for cross-sector learning.
Food authorities will assess selected heritage food products from other regions using their national regulatory procedures. The pilots will generate comparative evidence on how heritage food products are assessed in different regulatory contexts and strengthen understanding of different regulatory approaches.
Evidence-based guidance and practical recommendations to support improvements in the regulatory assessment of heritage food products.
