In early March 2026, FORESTCARBOVISION partners from Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OAMK) returned to Ireland to carry out essential fieldwork at our pilot sites.

The team re-scanned forest plots in the West Cork area, with a focus on capturing high-resolution LiDAR data to support carbon stock assessments. Despite challenging foggy conditions at Myross Wood, the team successfully completed approximately 1.5 hours of flight time – enough to secure the data needed for ongoing analysis.

The visit also included a demonstration session at CECAS, where partners shared insights on forest carbon measurement technologies with local stakeholders. This fieldwork is part of the project's transnational effort to develop practical, scalable tools for forest carbon farming across the Northern Periphery and Arctic region.
