Three municipalities take part in the testing to help shape a smarter, user-friendly waste management system through the INNOCAP project.

As part of the INNOCAP project, Association of Municipalities of the South Iceland (SASS) is now working with three municipalities to test the new Waste Data Hub – an innovative digital platform that helps municipalities manage waste more effectively using data.

Over the next eight weeks, participating municipalities will engage in brief weekly sessions (30 minutes each) to try out the system and share their thoughts. These insights will be shared with Origo, the project's software partner, to help shape a user experience tailored to real-world municipal needs.

The Waste Data Hub offers municipalities powerful tools to monitor and analyse all categories of waste, providing detailed insights into quantities, costs, and performance. This data supports strategic decision-making aligned with EU waste targets and regulations, helping municipalities optimise services, education initiatives, incentives, and more.

By working closely with municipalities, the INNOCAP project Icelandic partner ensures the platform is practical, user-friendly, and ready to support Europe’s transition to a more digital, sustainable future.
