Around 30 representatives from municipalities, regions, politics and businesses in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Ireland participated in the Policy in Action webinar on 27 May to hear real-life experiences from Sweden’s regions and municipalities on how smart policy can support social entrepreneurship.

Presentations

Firstly Gordon Hahn, Executive Director of Coompanion, Sweden gave the presentation EU Social Economy Action Plan & Council: recommendations on developing social economy framework conditions.

After that Anders Bro from Region Örebro County in Sweden presented Action plan for civil society and social economy 2026-2030 about the regions efforts to develop policys within the area. They are working on three focus areas: "Increase understanding of the importance of civil society and the social economy in the development of Örebro county"; "Create long-term conditions for civil society and the social economy in Örebro county" and "Create, strengthen and coordinate meeting places for civil society and social economy in Örebro county". The third person to present was Bente Sandström from Nordanstig municipality who talked about how they as a municipality support social entrepreneurship.

After the presentations, there were country-based breakout sessions for deep dives and dialogue on the question How can social economy policy improvement be done in your region, or is it already there? After the breakout sessions all gathered and shared what they had talked about.
