On October 28–29, partners from across the Nordics gathered at Umeå University for the NoBiCC project meeting. Day 1 Highlights:
A warm welcome from Thomas Olofsson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Professor of Energy Engineering at Umeå University.
Leif-Gunnar Hanssen (UiT) provided a project status update, followed by detailed presentations from WP2, WP3, and WP1, showcasing progress on deliverables and outputs.
The day concluded with a joint dinner — a great opportunity to strengthen collaboration across institutions.

Day 2 Highlights:
Erik Eklund from Umeå Municipality shared the city’s ambitious vision as a Mission City: to become climate neutral by 2030 through innovation and smart urban planning.
Field visits with Ulf Nordwall (PEAB) and Anders Rebbling (Akademiska Hus) gave us a firsthand look at sustainable architecture in practice — including the AURORA building, designed with flexibility, eco-betong (carbon-reduced concrete), solar panels, and certified to Miljöbyggnad Guld standards.
We wrapped up with planning for future meetings, workshops, and applications — energized and aligned for the road ahead.
Umeå’s commitment to sustainability, with over 35,000 students and a population averaging 39 years of age, makes it an ideal setting for testing new solutions. The NoBiCC project continues to be a powerful platform for knowledge exchange and innovation across borders.
