The webinar presented the current state of the circular economy in Finland, Norway, Ireland, and Iceland.

The Target Circular project webinar on November 25, 2025, presented overviews and examples of how circular economy value chains have been built in the wood and forest industry in Finland, the marine industry in Norway, and agriculture in Ireland and Iceland.

The webinar also presented circular economy tools and a guidebook developed for use by BSOs. In the webinar, Egidija Rainosalo from Centria UAS presented a study on side streams in the wood and forestry industry conducted in the municipality of Perho in Finland. Line Kjelstrup from Norrinova emphasized that products with higher added value obtained from side streams have great market potential in the Norwegian fishing industry. Stephen Barry-Hannon from Munster Technological University reported on the Circular BioEconomy Cluster and ongoing circular economy initiatives in the agricultural sector in Ireland. Sveinbjörg Rut Pétursdóttir from SSNV highlighted circular economy initiatives in the Icelandic agricultural sector, including sheep farming and geothermal-powered greenhouses.

One of the goals of our project was to increase awareness of the circular economy and how to raise sustainability issues with customers. The Target Circular project team has developed some simple tools to help BSOs. The toolkit has already been published. The guide is in the final stages of completion and will be published before the end of this year.
