The third deliverable report of Work Package 1, titled “Review of EOL fishing gear collection volumes and responsible parties in the NPA region”, is out now. The aim in WP1 is to create an overall picture of the current status of end-of-life fishing gear - how much fishing gear waste is created and how it is collected. The report D.1.3.1 focuses on finding out how much EOL fishing gear waste is collected in the NPA countries and what happens to it after collection. After the introduction chapter, chapter 2 looks into the life cycle of fishing gear, followed by chapter 3 looking into what the collected amounts of EOL fishing gear are in the NPA countries and by whom the collections are organized. Chapter 4 then focuses on the treatment methods and processing capacity in the NPA countries of the materials that are commonly found in fishing gear (plastics, rubber, metals), followed by conclusions.
