A great RemoTED Training Day at Lapland UAS Kosmos Campus in Kemi!
The RemoTED project organised a training day at Lapland University of Applied Sciences’ Kosmos Campus in Kemi on 21 September 2026. The Finnish-language event brought together professionals from our target groups, associate partners and other stakeholders to learn about digitalisation, new technologies and their use in social and healthcare.
Current topics in digital social and healthcare
The first part of the day focused on current topics related to digitalisation in social and healthcare. We heard about data management and data security, digital services and generative AI. The programme brought together expertise from other projects and organisations and provided different perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation.
How can health data be used safely and responsibly? The SUSA project opened the day with an important topic for digital social and healthcare. Marko Vatanen from the SUSA project discussed data and information management and data security in social and healthcare.
Digital services are an increasingly important part of social and healthcare. We heard about their development and use in the Lapland Wellbeing Services County.
Pia Yliraisanen-Seppanen introduced the digital services of the Lapland Wellbeing Services County and gave participants an overview of digital solutions in social and healthcare services in Lapland.
What possibilities does generative AI offer for social and healthcare professionals? The KITT project introduced participants to this rapidly developing technology.
Mirka Hienonen from the KITT project introduced generative AI and its use in social and healthcare.
RemoTED training modules
The RemoTED team also presented the project and its training modules. The topics of the modules are based on competence needs identified earlier in the project.
The training focuses on two main themes: digital interaction and guidance skills and emerging technologies. The modules will support social and healthcare professionals in developing the digital skills needed in changing working environments.
Exploring technologies in practice
In the afternoon, the participants moved into parallel sessions organised for the project’s target groups. The sessions gave participants an opportunity to explore different technologies and solutions in practice.
MedicubeX introduced its eHealth Station, which will be piloted as part of the RemoTED project. Jaana Kurki and Suvi Leppänen from Karelia University of Applied Sciences introduced participants to an interaction simulation and robotic pets. Participants also had an opportunity to meet the Buddy presence robot and visit a multisensory room with Hanna Grönlund.
The afternoon sessions provided an opportunity to experience technologies in practice, exchange ideas and discuss how digital and technological solutions could be used in social and healthcare services.
The training day brought together learning, practical experiences and discussion between professionals and project collaborators. A big thank you to all our speakers, participants and collaborators who contributed to the day!
