Attract skills and talent through Regional Innovation Capacity insights

What we do

ASTRIC project partners from Ireland, Sweden, and Finland work together to improve how regional innovation impact is measured through the development of practical and meaningful metrics. Creating vibrant regional innovation ecosystems that attract talent and skills is a shared priority across all partner regions. Alongside strengthening regional competitiveness, innovation ecosystems also create wider economic and social benefits that positively impact communities and support sustainable regional growth. Measuring the performance of innovation ecosystems provides valuable data to better understand their current strengths, identify opportunities for improvement, and support informed decision-making. METRIC, a measurement framework developed by Region Västerbotten, forms the foundation of this work. In collaboration with regional stakeholders, relevant indicators are identified based on regional priorities and available data. A structured approach to adapting and transferring the METRIC framework supports long-term measurement, evaluation, and communication of innovation ecosystem performance. The project also contributes to building regional capacity to continuously assess, strengthen, and support innovation ecosystems into the future.
