What NAMRO is
The NAMRO project (Arctic and North Atlantic Mass Rescue Operation Guidelines) is an international initiative financed by the Interreg NPA programme aimed at improving preparedness and coordination for mass rescue operations (MROs) in the Arctic and North Atlantic regions. The project works on developing a handbook for mass rescue operations with harmonized guidelines with a special focus on the rendering and receiving assistance process. The organizations involved in the project are: the Norwegian SAR Agency, Icelandic Coastguard, Munster technological University, HM Coastguard, VØRN (MRCC Tørshavn), and AECO (Arctic Expeditionary Cruise Operators).
