Mass rescue operations and the NPA region
Mass rescue operations occur when many people are in distress, and local search and rescue teams cannot cope. These events are rare but have serious consequences. The NPA region faces increased risks from maritime traffic, tourism, military activity, and natural disasters like landslides and forest fires. Long distances and limited resources in local communities add to the challenge. To improve coordination, countries in the region must work together, sharing expertise and resources. By developing common mass rescue operations guidelines, countries can respond more effectively, saving lives and protecting the environment.
