About Miia Jansson & the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology

Professor Miia Jansson, Ph.D., MHSc, RN, is Vice-Head of the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) at the University of Oulu, Finland, and leads the DigiImpact Research Group. In addition, she is an Adjunct Associate Professor at RMIT University, Australia.

Her research focuses on digitalization and value-based healthcare.

The Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology (HST), based at the University of Oulu, is the most multidisciplinary research unit at the University, providing a unique opportunity to conduct socially influential research and education in health science and technology. The expertise of its eleven principal investigators spans clinical sciences, medical physics, medical engineering, medical informatics, biomarkers and connected health and health sciences.

  • Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methods to gain deeper insights into the underlying reasons for absenteeism and early retirement caused by poor physical and mental health

  • Examining evidence on the impact of digital interventions in promoting the work-related well-being of occupational healthcare clients in rural areas

  • Bringing multidisciplinary expertise across health science and technology to support the project
