From ideas to concrete results

Interreg NPA project-led thematic sessions that illustrated how cooperation translates into tangible results across the Northern Periphery and Arctic.

25 years of solutions

The Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme marked its 25th anniversary with a two-day conference, CONNECTING THE DOTS, held on 1–2 October 2025 in Bodø, Norway. Over the two days, participants immersed themselves in a rich programme of Interreg NPA project-led thematic sessions that illustrated how cooperation translates into tangible results across the Northern Periphery and Arctic.

Building Blocks

The Building Blocks sessions featured projects that have laid essential foundations for regional development throughout multiple programming periods. These projects reflect themes that have steadily evolved over time, such as the circular economy, sustainable and diversified tourism, health and wellbeing, and support for SMEs and innovation.

They demonstrate how knowledge, practical experience and strong transnational networks built by earlier initiatives continue to shape today’s solutions. In these sessions, projects revisited what has been achieved, shared tools and lessons learned, and showed how long-term collaboration creates lasting impact.

Emerging Trends

The Emerging Trends sessions focused on topics gaining momentum in response to new challenges and opportunities in the NPA area. Themes such as youth engagement and community preparedness have become increasingly relevant as regions adapt to demographic shifts, social change and climate-related pressures.

These sessions explored where needs are growing, where new ideas are taking shape, and how the programme can respond in its next phase. They invited participants to look forward and help identify priorities for the coming programming period.

Together, the Building Blocks and Emerging Trends sessions provided a comprehensive look at how NPA projects have developed over time and where they are heading next.
