BRAIN-Prep

Building Resilient And Innovative Networks among rural communities

What we do

This preparatory project carried out a feasibility and scoping study for a network of digital hubs and support services, to enable communities and enterprises to benefit from digital technologies and applications, which deal with climate change. The application development focused on those supporting the Green Business Model and the Circular Economy. The aim was to stimulate local digital provision that is networked transnationally. Transnationality is essential for reasons of scale, expertise, and range of application. The project will conclude with the main project application.

Final report

The preparatory project collected and analysed information to develop a full project. The partners focused on identifying how digital technologies could support community and business needs, with an emphasis on the Green Business Model and Circular Economy. The goal was to find key sectors where digital technology could make a big environmental impact, using the 80:20 rule—focusing on 20% of actions that could bring 80% of the benefits.

Tourism, common to all regions involved, became the starting point. Partners reviewed tourism services in their regions, exploring the use of Storymaps to present information about climate change and the efforts being made to address it. The project later expanded to include agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, as these also relate to tourism.

The project concluded with the presentation of a main project application.
