Digital Action on Climate Change with Heritage Environments

What we do

Climate change presents a clear and present danger to the culture, heritage and life of communities in the NPA region. Heritage organisations are key actors in climate dialogue, motivating communities and visitors through awareness and action. Digital Action on Climate Change with Heritage Environments (DACCHE) facilitates the use of local knowledge and equips communities to preserve cultural landscapes, with digital solutions and methods for communication of climate stories, and actionable strategies for land restoration, instilling advocacy in the face of a rapidly changing environment.

Kicked-off meeting

On the 4th and 5th of October, the EU project "Digital Action on Climate Change with Heritage Environments (DACCHE)" officially kicked-off its three-year project in the Northern Periphery and Arctic region. The project, with Jamtli in Östersund as the Leading Partner, brings together seven partners from five countries dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and adaptation of important heritage sites. The project has financial support from the Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) programme and Region Jämtland Härjedalen.

Digital solutions to address climate impact on heritage & society

Through DACCHE we will be exploring how citizen science can help monitor effects of climate change, how digitisation can provide some resilience and how virtual reality simulations of climate futures can motivate behavioural change to mitigate against climate change.
